Galatians 3:2

¹⁶But they didn’t all listen to the glad news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”¹⁷So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

¹⁴that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

⁸God, who knows the heart, testified about them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just like he did to us.

¹³In him you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, ¹⁴who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.

⁵He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?

¹⁵who, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit;

³⁸Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

⁴God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

²He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

³He said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”

⁴Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”

^5[+] When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ⁶When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.

⁴⁴While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word. ⁴⁵They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles. ⁴⁶For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,

⁴⁷“Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.”
