Galatians 3:18

¹³For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he would be heir of the world wasn’t through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. ¹⁴For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect. ¹⁵For the law produces wrath; for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

¹⁶For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

²¹I don’t reject the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!”

¹²that you won’t be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherited the promises.

¹³For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself, ¹⁴saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”¹⁵Thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

⁴²For he remembered his holy word, and Abraham, his servant.

⁶you offspring of Abraham, his servant, you children of Jacob, his chosen ones. ⁷He is the LORD, our God. His judgments are in all the earth. ⁸He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations, ⁹the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac, ¹⁰and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute; to Israel for an everlasting covenant, ¹¹saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance,” ¹²when they were but a few men in number, yes, very few, and foreigners in it.

¹⁷and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

⁷²to show mercy toward our fathers, to remember his holy covenant, ⁷³the oath which he swore to Abraham our father,

²⁹If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.

⁵⁴He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy, ⁵⁵as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring^[+] forever.”

¹²The law is not of faith, but, “The man who does them will live by them.”
