Ezra 7:1

¹In the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, when wine was before him, I picked up the wine, and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad before in his presence.

⁴Eleazar became the father of Phinehas, Phinehas became the father of Abishua, ⁵Abishua became the father of Bukki. Bukki became the father of Uzzi. ⁶Uzzi became the father of Zerahiah. Zerahiah became the father of Meraioth. ⁷Meraioth became the father of Amariah. Amariah became the father of Ahitub. ⁸Ahitub became the father of Zadok. Zadok became the father of Ahimaaz. ⁹Ahimaaz became the father of Azariah. Azariah became the father of Johanan. ¹⁰Johanan became the father of Azariah, who executed the priest’s office in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem. ¹¹Azariah became the father of Amariah. Amariah became the father of Ahitub. ¹²Ahitub became the father of Zadok. Zadok became the father of Shallum. ¹³Shallum became the father of Hilkiah. Hilkiah became the father of Azariah. ¹⁴Azariah became the father of Seraiah. Seraiah became the father of Jehozadak.

⁴“Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may count the money which is brought into the LORD’s house, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people.

¹⁴The elders of the Jews built and prospered, through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. They built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the decree of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

¹²Artaxerxes, king of kings, To Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the perfect God of heaven. Now

²¹I, even I, Artaxerxes the king, make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, requires of you, it shall be done with all diligence,

¹¹Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of God’s house,

¹⁰For Ezra had set his heart to seek the LORD’s law, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.

¹¹and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of God’s house;

⁸Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in the LORD’s house.” Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
