Exodus 23:1

⁵I will silence whoever secretly slanders his neighbor. I won’t tolerate one who is arrogant and conceited.

⁵A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who pours out lies shall not go free.

¹⁶If an unrighteous witness rises up against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing, ¹⁷then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days; ¹⁸and the judges shall make diligent inquisition; and behold, if the witness is a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother, ¹⁹then you shall do to him as he had thought to do to his brother. So you shall remove the evil from among you. ²⁰Those who remain shall hear, and fear, and will never again commit any such evil among you. ²¹Your eyes shall not pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

¹⁶“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

⁵⁹Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death, ⁶⁰and they found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward ⁶¹and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’”

⁸Why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), “Let’s do evil, that good may come?” Those who say so are justly condemned.

¹⁶“‘You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people. “‘You shall not endanger the life^[+] of your neighbor. I am the LORD.

¹¹Unrighteous witnesses rise up. They ask me about things that I don’t know about.

²⁰“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

¹⁰I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ has come; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.
