Exodus 20:13

⁹For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,”^[+] You shall not covet,”and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

¹⁷“You shall not murder.

⁵I will surely require accounting for your life’s blood. At the hand of every animal I will require it. At the hand of man, even at the hand of every man’s brother, I will require the life of man. ⁶Whoever sheds man’s blood, his blood will be shed by man, for God made man in his own image.

²¹“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ ²²But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause ^[+] will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ ^[+] will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.

¹⁴If a man schemes and comes presumptuously on his neighbor to kill him, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.

²¹He who kills an animal shall make it good; and he who kills a man shall be put to death.

¹¹But if any man hates his neighbor, lies in wait for him, rises up against him, strikes him mortally so that he dies, and he flees into one of these cities; ¹²then the elders of his city shall send and bring him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. ¹³Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall purge the innocent blood from Israel that it may go well with you.

¹¹For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,”also said, “Do not commit murder.”Now if you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

¹⁸He said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder.’ ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘You shall not steal.’ ‘You shall not offer false testimony.’

¹³For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
