Acts 5:33

⁵⁴Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.

²⁸They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue as they heard these things. ²⁹They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff.

³⁷Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

⁹“Then they will deliver you up to oppression and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name’s sake.

²They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.

^34[+] Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, ³⁵that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.

²¹“Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.

²⁵It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul,^[+] how much more those of his household!

¹²The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth. ¹³The Lord will laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming. ¹⁴The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill those who are upright on the path. ¹⁵Their sword shall enter into their own heart. Their bows shall be broken.

⁵⁰that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, ⁵¹from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation. ⁵²Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn’t enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.”

⁵³As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him, ⁵⁴lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
