Acts 27:42

³This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one event to all. Yes also, the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

¹⁹When Herod had sought for him and didn’t find him, he examined the guards, then commanded that they should be put to death. He went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there.

¹⁵Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.

¹⁶The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort. ¹⁷They clothed him with purple; and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him. ¹⁸They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!” ¹⁹They struck his head with a reed and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him. ²⁰When they had mocked him, they took the purple cloak off him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.

²⁰Honor your covenant, for haunts of violence fill the dark places of the earth.

⁴⁰But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? ⁴¹And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.”

¹⁰A righteous man respects the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
