2 Samuel 24:24

²⁴King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is yours for the LORD, nor offer a burnt offering that costs me nothing.”

²⁵So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels^[+] of gold by weight for the place.

¹²“But you profane it when you say, ‘The LORD’s table is polluted, and its fruit, even its food, is contemptible.’ ¹³You say also, ‘Behold, what ^[+] a weariness it is!’ And you have sniffed at it”, says the LORD of Armies; “and you have brought that which was taken by violence, the lame, and the sick; thus you bring the offering. Should I accept this at your hand?” says the LORD.

¹⁴“But the deceiver is cursed who has in his flock a male, and vows and sacrifices to the Lord^[+] a defective thing; for I am a great King,” says the LORD of Armies, “and my name is awesome among the nations.”

¹³He spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, “But if you will, please hear me. I will give the price of the field. Take it from me, and I will bury my dead there.”

¹⁷Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.

¹Then David said, “This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
