2 Samuel 17:2

¹⁴The king and all the people who were with him arrived weary; and he refreshed himself there.

³¹Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Don’t fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”

³¹Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

⁷“Awake, sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is close to me,” says the LORD of Armies. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

⁵⁰nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”

³⁸But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and seize his inheritance.’

¹⁸how he met you by the way, and struck the rearmost of you, all who were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he didn’t fear God.

⁴Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went out and said to them, “Who are you looking for?”

⁵They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.

⁶When therefore he said to them, “I am he,” they went backward and fell to the ground.

⁷Again therefore he asked them, “Who are you looking for?” They said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

⁸Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way,”
