2 Samuel 1:10

⁵⁴Then he called hastily to the young man, his armor bearer, and said to him, “Draw your sword and kill me, that men not say of me, ‘A woman killed him.’ His young man thrust him through, and he died.”

²For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.

¹²Then he brought out the king’s son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the covenant; and they made him king and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, “Long live the king!”

³⁰He took the crown of their king from off his head; and its weight was a talent^[+] of gold, and in it were precious stones; and it was set on David’s head. He brought a great quantity of plunder out of the city.

⁴Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through and abuse me!” But his armor bearer would not, for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword and fell on it. ⁵When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died with him.

¹⁸The king said to Doeg, “Turn and attack the priests!” Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.

⁷Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their big toes cut off, scavenged under my table. As I have done, so God ^[+] has done to me.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

¹⁶The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
