2 Kings 23:30

²⁸His servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his tomb with his fathers in David’s city.

¹Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s place in Jerusalem. ²Joahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. ³The king of Egypt removed him from office at Jerusalem, and fined the land one hundred talents of silver and a talent^[+] of gold. ⁴The king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. Neco took Joahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.

²⁴So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

²¹All the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

³³When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him. ³⁴A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around, and carry me out of the battle, for I am severely wounded.” ³⁵The battle increased that day. The king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot. ³⁶A cry went throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, “Every man to his city, and every man to his country!”

³⁷So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria. ³⁸They washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood where the prostitutes washed themselves, according to the LORD’s word which he spoke.

²⁴But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.
