2 Corinthians 5:6

¹For we know that if the earthly house of our tent is dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.

²⁰For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, ²¹who will change the body of our humiliation to be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.

³Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident. ⁴One thing I have asked of the LORD, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the LORD’s house all the days of my life, to see the LORD’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple.

¹⁵For we are strangers before you and foreigners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no remaining.

¹³These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen^[+] them and embraced them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

³⁵Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.

⁸We are courageous, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.

¹²“Hear my prayer, LORD, and give ear to my cry. Don’t be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were.

¹⁴For we don’t have here an enduring city, but we seek that which is to come.

²⁶In the fear of the LORD is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
