2 Corinthians 12:8

⁷He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,

³⁹He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

⁴⁰He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What, couldn’t you watch with me for one hour? ⁴¹Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

⁴²Again, a second time he went away and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup can’t pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done.”

⁴³He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

¹¹“It grieves me that I have set up Saul to be king, for he has turned back from following me, and has not performed my commandments.” Samuel was angry; and he cried to the LORD all night.

²In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn’t get tired. My soul refused to be comforted. ³I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah. ⁴You hold my eyelids open. I am so troubled that I can’t speak. ⁵I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. ⁶I remember my song in the night. I consider in my own heart; my spirit diligently inquires: ⁷“Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he be favorable no more? ⁸Has his loving kindness vanished forever? Does his promise fail for generations? ⁹Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?” Selah. ¹⁰Then I thought, “I will appeal to this: the years of the right hand of the Most High.” ¹¹I will remember the LORD’s deeds; for I will remember your wonders of old.

¹⁶David therefore begged God for the child; and David fasted, and went in and lay all night on the ground. ¹⁷The elders of his house arose beside him, to raise him up from the earth; but he would not, and he didn’t eat bread with them. ¹⁸On the seventh day, the child died. David’s servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, “Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke to him and he didn’t listen to our voice. How will he then harm himself if we tell him that the child is dead?”

²¹He said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Command that these, my two sons, may sit, one on your right hand and one on your left hand, in your Kingdom.”

²²But Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to him, “We are able.”

²³I begged GOD at that time, saying, ²⁴“Lord^[+] GOD, you have begun to show your servant your greatness, and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or in earth that can do works like yours, and mighty acts like yours? ²⁵Please let me go over and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that fine mountain, and Lebanon.”

²⁶But the LORD was angry with me because of you, and didn’t listen to me. The LORD said to me, “That is enough! Speak no more to me of this matter. ²⁷Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and see with your eyes; for you shall not go over this Jordan.
