1 Timothy 5:6

^5[+] You have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

¹“And to the angel of the assembly in Sardis write: “He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars says these things: “I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.

⁷However much she glorified herself and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’

²⁴for this, my son, was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found.’ Then they began to celebrate.

³²But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’”

¹You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins,

¹³Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.

²²But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

¹⁴Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

⁵They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men. ⁶Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment. ⁷Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit.
