1 Timothy 5:1

³²“‘You shall rise up before the gray head and honor the face of the elderly; and you shall fear your God. I am the LORD.

⁵Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”⁶Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,

²that older men should be temperate, sensible, sober minded, sound in faith, in love, and in perseverance,

¹Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted.

¹Therefore I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed:

⁸But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi’, for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.

⁶Likewise, exhort the younger men to be sober minded.

¹⁹Don’t receive an accusation against an elder except at the word of two or three witnesses. ²⁰Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.

¹⁵“If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. ¹⁶But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.¹⁷If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector.

¹⁷Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.
