1 Samuel 12:14

¹⁴“Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth. Put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, in Egypt; and serve the LORD.

¹It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to the LORD your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. ²All these blessings will come upon you, and overtake you, if you listen to the LORD your God’s voice. ³You shall be blessed in the city, and you shall be blessed in the field. ⁴You shall be blessed in the fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the fruit of your animals, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock. ⁵Your basket and your kneading trough shall be blessed. ⁶You shall be blessed when you come in, and you shall be blessed when you go out. ⁷The LORD will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways. ⁸The LORD will command the blessing on you in your barns, and in all that you put your hand to. He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God gives you. ⁹The LORD will establish you for a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and walk in his ways. ¹⁰All the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the LORD’s name, and they will be afraid of you. ¹¹The LORD will grant you abundant prosperity in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. ¹²The LORD will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow. ¹³The LORD will make you the head, and not the tail. You will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you today, to observe and to do, ¹⁴and shall not turn away from any of the words which I command you today, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

¹The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ²“Moreover, you shall tell the children of Israel, ‘Anyone of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who live as foreigners in Israel, who gives any of his offspring^[+] to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone that person with stones. ³I also will set my face against that person, and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given of his offspring to Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. ⁴If the people of the land all hide their eyes from that person when he gives of his offspring to Molech, and don’t put him to death, ⁵then I will set my face against that man and against his family, and will cut him off, and all who play the prostitute after him to play the prostitute with Molech, from among their people.

⁶“‘The person that turns to those who are mediums and wizards, to play the prostitute after them, I will even set my face against that person, and will cut him off from among his people.

⁷“‘Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am the LORD your God. ⁸You shall keep my statutes, and do them. I am the LORD who sanctifies you.

⁹“‘For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon himself.

¹⁰“‘The man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, even he who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

¹¹“‘The man who lies with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness. Both of them shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon themselves.

¹²“‘If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death. They have committed a perversion. Their blood shall be upon themselves.

¹³“‘If a man lies with a male, as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon themselves.

¹⁰Tell the righteous that it will be well with them, for they will eat the fruit of their deeds.

²⁰If you forsake the LORD, and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you evil, and consume you, after he has done you good.”

¹²So I let them go after the stubbornness of their hearts, that they might walk in their own counsels. ¹³Oh that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! ¹⁴I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their adversaries. ¹⁵The haters of the LORD would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever.

⁷to those who by perseverance in well-doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;
