1 Peter 4:2

²²that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit, ²³and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, ²⁴and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

¹⁴as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance,

³For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared, ⁵not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, ⁶whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷that being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ⁸This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you insist confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men;

⁶not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,

¹¹Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁵He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again.

²May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?

³We also all once lived among them in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

¹⁷This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

⁷Therefore don’t be partakers with them. ⁸For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
