1 Kings 18:7

⁶They said to him, “A man came up to meet us, and said to us, ‘Go, return to the king who sent you, and tell him, “The LORD says, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you send to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.’”’”

⁷He said to them, “What kind of man was he who came up to meet you and told you these words?”

⁸They answered him, “He was a hairy man, and wearing a leather belt around his waist.” He said, “It’s Elijah the Tishbite.”

¹⁸His brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.”

³³Now therefore, please let your servant stay instead of the boy, my lord’s slave; and let the boy go up with his brothers.

⁸But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

⁴¹As soon as the boy was gone, David arose out of the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times. They kissed one another and wept with one another, and David wept the most.

¹⁸A ferry boat went to bring over the king’s household, and to do what he thought good. Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king when he had come over the Jordan.

²⁰We said to my lord, ‘We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loves him.’

²He lifted up his eyes and looked, and saw that three men stood near him. When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,

¹²Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”

¹⁴The sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you; and all those who despised you will bow themselves down at the soles of your feet. They will call you the LORD’s City, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
