1 Kings 18:2

²⁶When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight. You shall eat, and not be satisfied.

²⁵There was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab^[+] of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.

¹The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?

¹²“I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who shall die, and of the son of man who will be made as grass?

¹⁵Alas for the day! For the day of the LORD is at hand, and it will come as destruction from the Almighty. ¹⁶Isn’t the food cut off before our eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God? ¹⁷The seeds rot under their clods. The granaries are laid desolate. The barns are broken down, for the grain has withered. ¹⁸How the animals groan! The herds of livestock are perplexed, because they have no pasture. Yes, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. ¹⁹LORD, I cry to you, for the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field. ²⁰Yes, the animals of the field pant to you, for the water brooks have dried up, and the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

⁴Against you, and you only, I have sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight, so you may be proved right when you speak, and justified when you judge.

¹The wicked flee when no one pursues; but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

²³Your sky that is over your head will be bronze, and the earth that is under you will be iron. ²⁴The LORD will make the rain of your land powder and dust. It will come down on you from the sky, until you are destroyed.

²“Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up. ³Their nobles send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads. ⁴Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads. ⁵Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass. ⁶The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.

¹⁸If I go out into the field, then behold, the slain with the sword! If I enter into the city, then behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.’”
