1 Kings 17:4

⁹“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.”

⁹He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.

⁴¹Who provides for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food?

⁴But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.’”

⁵He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat!”

⁶He looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again. ⁷The LORD’s angel came again the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.”

⁸He arose, and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, God’s Mountain.

⁸Let all the earth fear the LORD. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. ⁹For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm.

¹¹Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.

⁸“Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke out of the womb, ⁹when I made clouds its garment, and wrapped it in thick darkness, ¹⁰marked out for it my bound, set bars and doors, ¹¹and said, ‘You may come here, but no further. Your proud waves shall be stopped here’? ¹²“Have you commanded the morning in your days, and caused the dawn to know its place, ¹³that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and shake the wicked out of it?

²⁹When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,

³Though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out from there; and though they be hidden from my sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them. ⁴Though they go into captivity before their enemies, there I will command the sword, and it will kill them. I will set my eyes on them for evil, and not for good.
