1 Kings 14:26

¹⁸Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that was left in the treasures of the LORD’s house, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered it into the hand of his servants. Then King Asa sent them to Ben Hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who lived at Damascus, saying,

¹⁵King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold. Six hundred shekels^[+] of beaten gold went to one large shield. ¹⁶He made three hundred shields of beaten gold. Three hundred shekels^[+] of gold went to one shield. The king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.

¹³He carried out from there all the treasures of the LORD’s house and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the LORD’s temple, as the LORD had said.

¹⁶King Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred shekels^[+] of gold went to one buckler. ¹⁷He made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three minas^[+] of gold went to one shield; and the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.

¹⁸I hated all my labor in which I labored under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me. ¹⁹Who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have rule over all of my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

⁹So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem and took away the treasures of the LORD’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made. ¹⁰King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house. ¹¹As often as the king entered into the LORD’s house, the guard came and bore them, then brought them back into the guard room.

³⁵Once I have sworn by my holiness, I will not lie to David. ³⁶His offspring will endure forever, his throne like the sun before me. ³⁷It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.” Selah. ³⁸But you have rejected and spurned. You have been angry with your anointed. ³⁹You have renounced the covenant of your servant. You have defiled his crown in the dust. ⁴⁰You have broken down all his hedges. You have brought his strongholds to ruin. ⁴¹All who pass by the way rob him. He has become a reproach to his neighbors. ⁴²You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries. You have made all of his enemies rejoice. ⁴³Yes, you turn back the edge of his sword, and haven’t supported him in battle. ⁴⁴You have ended his splendor, and thrown his throne down to the ground. ⁴⁵You have shortened the days of his youth. You have covered him with shame. Selah.

⁵Why do you set your eyes on that which is not? For it certainly sprouts wings like an eagle and flies in the sky.

⁶“Surely every man walks like a shadow. Surely they busy themselves in vain. He heaps up, and doesn’t know who shall gather.

⁵¹Thus all the work that King Solomon did in the LORD’s house was finished. Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated—the silver, the gold, and the vessels—and put them in the treasuries of the LORD’s house.
