1 John 3:16

⁹By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his only born^[+] Son into the world that we might live through him. ¹⁰In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice^[+] for our sins. ¹¹Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.

²Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.

³⁴A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.

¹⁶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only born^[+] Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

⁸But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

¹²“This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. ¹³Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

⁵and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and washed us from our sins by his blood—

¹⁸Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit,

²⁸Take heed, therefore, to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and^[+] God which he purchased with his own blood.

²⁸even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
