1 Corinthians 15:56

¹⁵For the law produces wrath; for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

¹⁰For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who doesn’t continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.”¹¹Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “The righteous will live by faith.”¹²The law is not of faith, but, “The man who does them will live by them.”

¹³Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”

⁵For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law worked in our members to bring out fruit to death. ⁶But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

⁷What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”⁸But sin, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law, sin is dead. ⁹I was alive apart from the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. ¹⁰The commandment which was for life, this I found to be for death; ¹¹for sin, finding occasion through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me. ¹²Therefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, righteous, and good.

¹³Did then that which is good become death to me? May it never be! But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, was producing death in me through that which is good; that through the commandment sin might become exceedingly sinful.

²³For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁴I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am^[+] he, you will die in your sins.”

¹²Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin, so death passed to all men because all sinned. ¹³For until the law, sin was in the world; but sin is not charged when there is no law.

²¹Jesus said therefore again to them, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you can’t come.”

²⁰The law came in that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly,

¹⁹Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God. ²⁰Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

¹⁷For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.
