1 Corinthians 10:6

⁷Even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, having in the same way as these given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are shown as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.

¹¹Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

¹¹Let’s therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

⁴The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, “Who will give us meat to eat?

⁶and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live in an ungodly way,

³¹A wind from the LORD went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, around the camp, and about two cubits^[+] above the surface of the earth. ³²The people rose up all that day, and all of that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers;^[+] and they spread them all out for themselves around the camp. ³³While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the LORD’s anger burned against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague. ³⁴The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah,^[+] because there they buried the people who lusted.

⁶I have cut off nations. Their battlements are desolate. I have made their streets waste, so that no one passes by. Their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, so that there is no inhabitant. ⁷I said, “Just fear me. Receive correction,” so that her dwelling won’t be cut off, according to all that I have appointed concerning her. But they rose early and corrupted all their doings.

²¹This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

¹⁴but gave in to craving in the desert, and tested God in the wasteland. ¹⁵He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.

²⁷He also rained meat on them as the dust, winged birds as the sand of the seas. ²⁸He let them fall in the middle of their camp, around their habitations. ²⁹So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire. ³⁰They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths, ³¹when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of their strongest, and struck down the young men of Israel.
